My Mascara Dilemma.
Hey guys so it’s been a while. Life is so busy again post covid restrictions and its all good but sometimes we need to pause, breathe and remember what are working towards. I’m feeling motivated today to get a little blog posted and this one I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m also working on the website and getting ready for another fabulous bride this week. Yes its busy but I’m so thankful.
For the past few months I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect mascara. I wear mascara almost every day and I’ve yet to find the perfect one. When I say perfect, I mean one that doesn’t smudge under my eyes, one that doesn’t dry out quickly and one which actually gives me length and thickness to my short little lashes. This is not just important to me, but for my clients. The last thing I want is for any client to tell me that their mascara transferred under their eyes in other words they had panda eyes by the end of the night. Can I just point out for all my clients I use waterproof mascara but it still happens. So I’ve tested a few, still not 100% happy but it’s a work in progress, and I will continue to fight the fight for those of us with little or nothing on our eyelids.
The first mascara which I would like to talk about is the Catrice cosmetics Glam & Doll volume mascara which is waterproof. As high street goes yes its good but it has some negatives. It didn’t dry out very quickly, smudged a little but not to the extent that I was screaming at myself in the mirror, and gave me a little length. Its also cheap which is another bonus. However it may not have smudged but it did flake off my lashes after a while and I found little black dots of dry mascara on my top lid which rubbed off easily. Not sure if I will repurchase this product again.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of the Charlotte Tilbury products and her pillow talk range is to die for. However I cant say the same for the pillow talk push up lashes mascara. Yes it gave me length and thickness and on an initial glance I was so impressed. However as the day progressed it smudged badly under my eyes. This mascara is not waterproof so therefore I suppose I should have expected it to smudge and I wouldn’t have used it on clients anyway as its not water proof but as an everyday mascara I wanted to try it. Its not cheap either. I loved how it looked in the beginning but I was so disappointed it smudged. It lasted a while and didn’t dry out too quickly which yes is a benefit but still the smudging upsets me. Would I buy it again? Probably yes, but I’d have concealer on hand to clean up any fallout throughout the day.
Rimmel London you are amazing at what you do. However the waterproof wonder’full mascara with argan oil has to be hands down one of my greatest disappointments. It gives a very natural look that even with a few coats I had hardly any length or thickness. The colour is not strong either and I need a strong black pigmented mascara. I would recommend this mascara for those with dark long lashes who want a natural look.
Ok so I spent a few euros on this next mascara and to be honest I think it was worth it. The YSL volume effet Faux Cils Waterfproof mascara claims to be long wearing with a 24 hour hold, flake free and conditioning and also claims to have a dramatic false lash look. All of which I found to be true. I love it. I will definitely buy it again, however it dried up very quickly. I was so disappointed but then again I’ve used it almost every day.
So yes these are the few mascaras that I’m using at the moment. I’m happy enough but I’m still on the lookout for the perfect one. I’ve tried and tested plenty of mascaras over the years but to this day I think the YSL one is my favourite. There are also plenty I haven’t tried so all is not lost. I’m on a mission and will not stop until I find it. Is it confusing?? Yes of course there is just so much on the market but its just about finding the right fit for you and what suits you best. Until next time
