What to expect at your bridal makeup trial.
Hey all,
I want to talk to you all about what to expect on the day of your bridal trial and the benefits of having one.
This time of the year is quiet for me wedding wise so I organise bridal trials for my brides who will be tying the knot in the near future.
On the day of your trial I recommend wearing something white or a similar colour to that of your dress or outfit. This is just a little trick that I learned over the years, one which can give you an idea of what your makeup will look like against your dress. This is absolutely not necessary but it can help.
I usually allocate approximately two hours for my brides to apply the makeup and this also allows time to have a chat, get to know one another and answer any questions that my brides may have.
Typically, my brides will have an idea of a look that they may wish to go for on their big day, but often times they don’t and just want me to do what I think will suit them. Bringing a photo of a look that you might like always helps. I will also recommend alternative looks if i feel that a different makeup look or product might suit you better.
To Tan or not to tan??? Well I get everything here at bridal trials. Some ladies don’t want to wear tan, some like a little and others want to go dark with their base, it is a personal choice. However if you are wearing tan on your big day id recommend wearing it for your trial also. I understand that this may not always work out for brides to be so please do not fear. I will colour match your foundation on the day of the wedding to suit your skin.
Having a bridal trial has benefits for both the bride and the makeup artist. As a makeup artist, i like to get to know my clients before their big day. I feel that when a bride is allowing you into their space on their wedding day, your relationship becomes more personal and not just a business transaction. I’m still friends with so many of my brides, and they continue to support me daily , by liking and sharing my posts, giving me reviews and getting their makeup done with me for other events. This is one of my favourite parts of the job. I get to meet so many amazing people.
Another benefit of a makeup trial for me as a makeup artist is that I have a chance to get to know my client’s skin. This is so important as it allows me to choose specific products for that client. Everyone’s skin is different, therefore I will use different products on every bride. I can see at a trial, if my client has oily, dry or combination skin, therefore ill know which foundation will probably suit best.
Choosing a lipstick for your wedding day, should not be hard. I will always help my brides choose a lipstick for their big day and I will also give them some of my recommendations of what they can buy to have in their wedding clutch for topping up later in the evening.
I always take a photo when I’m finished applying the makeup. This photo is for my reference only and will not be going up on social media platforms.
I hope you enjoyed reading this blogpost and benefit from it. Looking forward to a busy year and I cant wait to meet all my lovely brides to be.
